Wolseley has opened a new dedicated site to service Walsall Housing Group (whg), after being appointed supply chain partner in a deal worth £3 million per annum for four years.

The UK’s largest distributor of construction products will provide a complete materials solution to meet the response, voids and planned maintenance requirements of whg’s 20,000 homes.

The new 8,000 sq ft site in Walsall will essentially operate as a builders’ merchants but with whg, a not-for-profit Registered Social Landlord, as the sole client, ensuring that its trade operatives can always get the materials they need.

Wolseley’s sector director Wilby Meadows and Ian Finlay, director of property services for whg, will be presenting at Wolseley’s first Social Housing Seminar at its new Sustainable Building Center in Leamington Spa. The event for local authorities, Registered Social Landlords (RSL) and other providers of social housing is being held on 30 and 31 October 2008.
