Timber Trades Journal, the leading publication in the UK timber industry, has selected Wolseley as the winner of its 2008 Environmental Achievement Award. This award recognises exceptional achievement in environmental performance in the timber and associated industries. Wolseley’s entry focused on its recently opened Sustainable Building Center, which uses several engineered timber products in an innovative way.

Wolseley has also won a prestigious national communications award. Connections, Wolseley’s magazine for its 15,000 employees in the UK, beat off stiff competition from five other finalists, including NCP and Clifford Chance, in the ‘Internal Magazine or Newsletter’ category of the Charted Institute of Public Relations’ (CIPR) Excellence Awards 2008.

Though the striking magazine has carried off numerous other communications awards, this is the first time that it had been entered for a CIPR Award.

The winner was announced at an awards ceremony in London on 15 September.

Wolseley’s corporate communications team has also reached the finals of the CIPR’s Midlands region PRide Awards, in the Business and Trade category, with its ‘Building for the future’ campaign, which promotes the use of sustainable building materials.
