DIYers encouraged to lay it on thick with insulation offer
Insulating your loft properly could save up to £150 on fuel bills and cut carbon emissions
by 800kg per home per year. In fact, if all UK households topped up their loft insulation to 270mm,
around £520m would be saved each year!*
For this reason, npower has teamed up with national builders merchant Build Center and insulation
manufacturer Rockwool to launch a new ‘DIY scheme’ and drive home the message to householders
that insulating is a simple way to save money and help the environment at the same time.
The npower DIY scheme enables DIY renovators to purchase 2 for 1** priced Rockwool loft insulation and
get it delivered direct to their door for free by their local Build Center. This is a strictly audited,
accountable and controlled system, with the three companies working in close partnership and collaboration
to administer the scheme.
As part of the general awareness campaign, Wallace and Gromit will be getting in on the act as they
prepare to insulate their loft in a new TV commercial launched at the end of July.
Householders are encouraged to insulate now in readiness for the cold winter months ahead,
as Steve Ashmore, Managing Director of Wolseley UK’s Heavyside division (which includes Build Center)
explained:
“This offer is particularly pertinent to DIYers, as they can purchase their insulation now,
in preparation for the relevant stage of their project. Insulation can help to keep the home cool
during the hot summer weather, so now is an ideal time to install.
“Customers can also have the insulation delivered straight to their home, saving the time
and effort of having to squeeze the rolls into their car and make several trips back and forth to
their local DIY store.”
Homeowners who purchase Rockwool insulation from Build Center as part of the DIY scheme will also
receive an installation guide and safety kit to make sure that they are fully prepared. Rockwool insulation products,
which are water resistant and non-combustible, also offer excellent thermal and acoustic performance –
as well as unrivalled sustainability credentials.
The npower insulation scheme is one of the many ways in which Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) funds
are being used, and provides homeowners and renovators with a great deal. Given the nature of the funding,
the scheme is not open to non-domestic properties, any new build project, nor to installers. Now is the time
for DIYers to buy, as Steve Ashmore emphasised:
“The scheme is only open for a finite amount of time, basically until the funding runs out,
so it is worth ordering now to take advantage of the deal.”
