  • Wolseley UK Announces Self-Build Team
Wolseley UK has announced the creation of a dedicated sales team focused on the needs of Self- Builders.

Reporting to self-build sector manager Alan Bawden is a team of seven regional account managers.

The account managers liaise directly with individuals who are either building their own home or undertaking a substantial restoration project. They help self-builders source materials and products from Wolseley's UK network of Build, Plumb, Hire and Drain Center branches.

Wolseley believes the market for self-build materials to be worth some £1 billion per annum, spread between 23,000 projects.

    Alan Bawden said

‘Wolseley now has the infrastructure in place to provide self-builders with the support they require. The company's primary business is the distribution of building and plumbing materials to trade and professional customers.

‘The needs of self-builders, most of whom are embarking on their first such venture, are distinctly different however, hence our decision to invest in a separate operation to service the self-build market.

‘Each account manager has been recruited from within Wolseley, and brings specific product expertise, such as insulation or joinery for example, to the self-build team.'

Wolseley has also concluded a new agreement with self-build specialists BuildStore to provide a material supply service to its customers. As part of the agreement Wolseley will provide free quantity surveying service to self-builders.
