Wolseley UK Recognised for Fleet Safety Improvements
Wolseley UK has won two national awards for road safety.
At the annual Fleet Safety Awards, sponsored by road safety charity Brake, Wolseley came top in two categories, ‘road risk manager of the year’ and ‘crash analysis procedures’.
Accepting the awards, Wolseley’s head of health, safety and environment Paul Gallemore said “It was a welcome surprise to receive such national recognition, and testament to the hard work put in by people across the whole company.”
Wolseley runs a fleet of 5,000 vehicles in the UK, half of which are commercial vehicles. The awards reflect the success of a number of fleet safety initiatives that have been rolled out by Wolseley, including a fleet safety handbook, an occupational road risk policy, regular management reviews with industry experts and insurers, and regular benchmarking against best in class companies.
Paul Gallemore added “We’ve also introduced both online and on road driver assessments along with a high profile Commercial Vehicle Driver of the Year competition. All these initiatives have contributed to an overall reduction in commercial vehicle and company car collisions.”
