Following a major contract win, Build Center branches will supply timber to Countryside Properties' Sadlers Park development at Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, where 300 houses and apartments will be built. Countryside Properties was named ‘Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year’ at the 2005 Building Sustainability Awards.

The announcement of the contract follows the award of FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certification to a further 29 Build Center branches, including three in Stoke, following successful audits by the certification body BM Trada.

This now brings the total number of Build Center branches with Chain of Custody certification to 61. These branches can now guarantee that timber products they supply are from responsibly managed and sustainable forest sources. This includes softwood, plywood, panel products such as particle and fibre boards, as well as engineered wood products such as I-beams.

Jermain Cheetham, Wolseley’s national chain of custody co-ordinator, said “This programme is essential to satisfy the environmental requirements of Build Center’s customers, and is a key part of Wolseley’s drive to promote the use of more sustainable construction products. Indeed, we aim to have the whole Build Center timber network certified by 2008.”
