Wolseley UK has formally opened its National Distribution Center (NDC) in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

The NDC is the centrepiece of Wolseley’s £100m investment in its UK logistics network. Wolseley is unique in UK construction materials distribution in having a totally in-house distribution capability.

The 355,000 sq ft NDC is divided between two buildings, linked by an enclosed bridge. The Leamington Spa facility will primarily supply products to Wolseley’s existing regional distribution centres, in Yorkshire, Worcester, and Milton Keynes, and two more that are planned in Lancashire and the South of England.

When working at planned capacity, Wolseley’s NDC will employ up to 250 staff and operate 147,000 storage locations, enabling an annual throughput of 65 million product units.

Opening the NDC, Wolseley plc group chief executive Chip Hornsby said:

“I’m delighted to be opening Wolseley’s UK National Distribution Center here in Wolseley’s spiritual home of the English West Midlands.

“We want to transform customer expectations of service in this industry, by providing both the widest range of products on the market, combined with unrivalled levels of availability throughout the UK.”
