Coronavirus (COVID-19) Wolseley UK’s approach to supporting customers in line with the latest government guidance on safety

Following the Government announcement on 19th July we can detail below what this means for our business and customers based in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Branch Operations in England

Wearing a mask in branch is no longer a legal requirement. However, we do encourage all visitors to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Our branches will operate within their normal hours and will maintain safety measures, including hand sanitiser stations, protective screens, safety PPE, cleaning schedules and customer guidance/directional signage.

Branch Operations in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland

The Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish Governments have all confirmed that despite the changes coming into effect in England from Monday 19 July, face coverings and social distancing is still mandatory. Therefore, we request you to wear a face mask if you are visiting a branch in one of these countries (unless you are exempt from wearing a face covering).

These branches will also operate within their normal hours and maintain safety measures, – including hand sanitiser stations, protective screens, safety PPE, cleaning schedules and customer guidance/directional signage.

Occasional Branch Closures and Digital Self Service

During the first waves of the pandemic there were occasions where we have had to temporarily close branches. Whilst we do not foresee this occurring on an ongoing basis, if there is short-term local disruption to our service at branch level, or temporary closures, they will always be shared as quickly as we can with you, both locally and on our website, and we’ll always seek to provide you with support from elsewhere in our wide network of branches. We have real-time updates on our branch openings at wolseley.co.uk so please do check in there before you travel

If you need help or assistance with your order, please don’t hesitate to contact one of our team in your local branch, who will be pleased to help.

How we are ensuring we can stay safe together through the pandemic

All of our branches across the UK have remained open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and will continue to operate with appropriate safety procedures for the foreseeable future.

Our established Covid-safe protocols in our branches aim to ensure the safety both of both colleagues and customers, and allow us to continue to support you and the delivery of services., We will maintain our Covid-safe procedures, outlined below, until there is definitive Government guidance that states they can be removed. Please see below for how you can help us to keep our branches Covid-safe.

In Wolseley UK safety measures

The health and wellbeing both of our customers and colleagues is a priority, and we continue to operate to Covid-safe procedures outlined below:

  • We recognise the production challenges that some of our suppliers may experience due to Covid 19. But you can be assured that we are continuing to work closely with suppliers to maximise output and schedule deliveries into our sites, to ensure normal levels of availability wherever possible

  • Where product supply issues may arise, we’ll use our contacts and specialist expertise to identify and find great alternatives that will work for you and which will allow you to keep working

  • In our Distribution Centres we have created ‘colleague bubbles’ coaching colleagues to remain within their colour-coded work zone and break rooms at all times, minimising the risk of a full shift or DC shutdown

  • Our branches in England are operating within normal hours and we are maintaining safety measures – including hand sanitiser stations, protective screens, safety PPE, cleaning schedules and customer guidance/directional signage. While wearing a mask in branch is no longer a legal requirement, we do encourage everyone to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing.

  • It is still a legal requirement to wear a face covering if you are visiting branches in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. These country branches are operating within their normal hours and we are maintaining safety measures – including hand sanitisers, protective screens, safety PPE, cleaning schedules and customer guidance/directional signage remains in place

  • Risk assessments have been set up and drivers and supplier deliveries both have guidelines in place which they are following

  • Our Support Centres also have safety measures in place to protect colleagues and visitors

Thank you on behalf of the whole Wolseley UK team for your continued support to ensure that we can stay safe together.
