Wired thermostats are connected via wires to the boiler, and often to the mains electricity as well. This means that, unlike wireless thermostats, there’s usually no need for batteries. As they are hardwired, which guarantees the connection between boiler and wired thermostat, so they’re a simple and reliable way for your customers to have fine control over their heating.
The two most common wired thermostats are 2-wire thermostats and 3-wire thermostats. This simply refers to how many wires come out of the back of the thermostat to connect with the heating system. Typically, a 2-wire thermostat just connects to the boiler, whereas the extra connection of a 3-wire thermostat is connected to the mains power. However, this varies from model to model.
